After nearly four days of searching, the family, a Pleasanton native went missing while flying From Florida to the Bahamas last weekend, he found her body and said she was almost at her destination before she died.
Stacy Love, wife of Christopher Moore, 59, told WLKY – a television station in Louisville, Ky. – Moore was found dead inside his plane in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas, on Thursday.
Love told the news agency that Moore was found 2.5 miles from Marsh Harbor Airport.
Moore’s cousin, Mark McMillan, also confirmed Moore’s death to the Weekly. “The family’s search team found his plane on Thursday morning. When they reached the plane, it became clear that he died as a result of the impact.”
The Royal Bahamas Defense Force, the lead agency investigating the case, did not respond to requests for comment by the time of publication.
Moore grew up in Pleasanton and graduated from Amador Valley High School before joining Quadrant Solutions Inc., a magnet company that eventually became one of the suppliers of magnets for the Apple iPhone.
Moore had sold the company and most recently lived in Louisville, but also had a place in the Bahamas.
He was due to arrive in the Bahamas on a BRM Aero Bristell single-engine aircraft, departing Sebastian Municipal Airport on Sunday (August 4).
However, he was never able to achieve this.
US Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Nicholas Strasburg told the Weekly that a Coast Guard District 7 watchdog received information about Moore’s overdue plane. He said the Coast Guard “launched aircrews from Coast Guard Air Station Miami and Air Station Clearwater, which searched approximately 1,760 square miles with negative results.”
According to him, the RBDF took over the search and investigation on Sunday evening. On Monday (Aug. 5), Strasburg said crews at Miami Air Station conducted another first-light search but found no trace of Moore or his plane.
Afterward, Strasburg said the Bahamian defense force had not requested further assistance from the Coast Guard, and as of 11 p.m. Monday, the RBDF had “suspended the search pending new information.”
McMillan shared his thoughts about his cousin with the Weekly. “This is a tragic loss. Chris was a wonderful person. She had an incredible life and she was loved. We will miss him.”
