HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – On the four year mark of the January 6 Capitol Riots, a look at those connected to that day and have ties to Alabama.
Dillion Herrington
Herrington pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers. He was sentenced to three years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
He is currently in the Limestone County Jail. He is facing rape charges in Limestone County.
Herrington is from Madison.
Joshua James
Joshua James pleaded guilty to two seditious conspiracy charges.
He was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution.
James is from Arab.
Kari Kelley
Kari Kelley pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building
She was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay $500 restitution.
Kelley is from Mobile.
Anthony Mazzio
Anthony Mazzio pleaded guilty to Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building
He was resentenced to 46 months of probation and ordered to pay $500 in restitution.
Mazzio is from Dothan.
Gregory Nix
Gregory Nix pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer.
He was given a 42-month prison sentence.
Nix is from Cleveland, Alabama.
Bobby Russell
Bobby Wayne Russell pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers and aiding and abetting
He was sentenced to 12 months in prison and one day in prison followed by two years of supervised release.
Russell is from Falkville.
Kenneth Thomas
Thomas is from Ohio, but was arrested in Alabama
Thomas was convicted of four counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder; and engaging in physical violence on Capitol grounds.
Thomas was sentenced to 58 months in prison, ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution and a $20,000 fine.
Jonathan Walden
Walden is from Birmingham.
Walden signed a plea agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty to entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds.
William Watson
Watson was arrested in Auburn.
He pleaded guilty to entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds and obstruction of an official proceeding and aiding and abetting.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Russell Alford
Alford was convicted of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building.
Alford was sentenced to 12 months incarceration, 12 months supervised release, $70 special assesment, and $500 Restitution.
Alford is from Hokes Bluff.
Stephanie Baez
Baez is from California but was arrested in Huntsville.
Brian Bingham
Bingham was arrested in Alabama, but is from New Jersey.
Bingham was convicted of civil disorder and assaulting, resisting, or impeding an officer from the Metropolitan Police Department.
U.S. District Judge Dabney L. Friedrich will sentence Bingham on February 7, 2025.
Joshua Black
Black is from Leeds, Alabama.
Black was convicted of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon; unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon on Capitol grounds or buildings; entering and remaining on the floor of Congress; and disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.
Black was sentenced to 22 months in prison. In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Amy B. Jackson ordered 24 months of supervised release and restitution of $2,000.
Phillip Bromley
Pleaded guilty to Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building or Grounds; Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building
Bromley was sentenced to 90 days in jail, one year of supervised release, $2,000 restitution, $4,000 fine.
He was arrested in Birmingham.
Lonnie Coffman
Coffman is from Falkville.
Coffman was arrested on 17 firearm and weapon charges following the riot. In November 2021, he pleaded guilty to two federal counts of illegal possession of a firearm and Molotov cocktails. He also pleaded guilty to one local charge in D.C. for having a pistol without a license and also an Alabama-based charge of possession of an illegal firearm.
Coffman was sentenced to 46 months in prison.
Kaleb Dillard
Dillard is from Mountain Brook.
Dillard was sentenced to 10 months in prison, 12 months of supervised release, and ordered to pay $36,238.55 in restitution by U.S. District Judge Jia M. Cobb. Dillard pleaded guilty on July 18, 2023, in the District of Columbia, to assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers.
