BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Although the snow is moving out of central Alabama, many roads across the state are still treacherous for travel.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) has provided a county-by-county update of road condition across the state.
Jefferson County – Most of the snow on the interstates have melted, but residual moisture on the roads and freezing temperatures can result in black ice in some areas.
St. Clair County – Most of the snow on the interstates have melted, but black ice could still form in areas with residual moisture and freezing temperatures.
Shelby County – Most of the snow on the Interstates have melted, but drivers should still be cautious of black ice in areas with residual moisture.
Calhoun County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice. As of 7 a.m., Cottaquilla Rd and Banes Gap are still impassable, According to ALEA.
Clay County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice.
Cleburne County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice.
Randolph County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice.
Talladega County – Roadways are still wet with potential for black ice.
Cullman County – All state and federal roads have been graded and/or salted and have some slick spots. All county roads are impassable.
Blount County – All state and federal roads have been graded and/or salted and have some slick spots. All county roads are still icy.
Etowah County – All state and federal roads have been graded and/or salted and have some slick spots. All county roads are still icy.
Cherokee County – All state and federal roads have no issues, according to ALEA. County roads are still icy.
Please use extreme caution when driving in winter weather as well as on icy roadways. ALEA Troopers will continue to monitor roadway conditions and provide updates accordingly.
