FAIRFIELD, CT — Billy’s Bakery, the popular spot located at 1885 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, is scheduled to close on Sunday.
An unnamed employee at the bakery, and another one at Mariola’s Cafe in Monroe, both confirmed the pending closure to Patch. Both eateries are owned by Mariola Boruch-Karwacki; she reportedly bought Billy’s five years ago. Mariola’s in Monroe is not affected by Billy’s closure.
Patch reached out to Boruch-Karwacki for comment, but did not immediately receive a reply. The news blog Doingitlocal.com was the first to report on Billy’s closure.
In a Facebook post on Sunday morning, Billy’s Bakery wrote:
With a heavy heart, we want to announce that Billys Bakery is closing its doors today after many years. We thank our loyal customers for their support and the entire community. We appreciate you from the bottom of our hearts.
On this last day, we urge all customers to remember that behind every counter are people who invest their hearts and time to be away from their families, whether it’s sweeping floors to paperwork, individuals who often sacrifice family time and vacations, ultimately caring for customer satisfaction and serving the community to return to their favorite local business. Please remember to support small businesses not only during the holidays, but year round. Forgive the errors and mistakes that inevitably happen. It’s not because we don’t care, but sometimes mistakes unfortunately occur in this line of business. Life is a learning process, even in businesses. We wish you a holiday season filled with love. God bless you all.
The bakery first opened in 2001. >>>You can read more about the bakery here.
