Gift Shop Ocean Blu Boutique Opens On Black Rock Turnpike In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT — It took years, but Fairfield resident Nancy Varsos is finally fulfilling her passion.

The human resources executive recently opened Ocean Blu Boutique, at 2480 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, a gift shop that specializes in handmade items, home goods and jewelry, all of which are selected by Varsos.

“I finally decidedly to follow my dream and open a store,” Varsos told Patch. “I love designing and buying things.”

The store opened a week ago, but already Varsos is seeing repeat customers, who tell her that the Black Rock Turnpike area has needed a unique store such as Ocean Blu, where customers can find warm, inviting items for their homes.

Varsos, who said she likes to stock the store with products from small vendors and creators, has a simple philosophy for how she selects the items she sells.

Many of the items are in different hues of blue, from candles to cloth products to pottery to artwork.

“I go with my gut, and choose my favorite things,” she said with a smile.

She came up with the name and the concept for the store, a laid-back beachy, country feel, while on vacation in Curaçao.

“We were sitting there, and I saw all these beautiful blues in the water, every shade of blue that’s possible, and I knew I had found the store’s theme,” Varsos said.

— Ocean Blu Boutique, 2480 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
