Urban League of Greater Hartford
AVON/HARTFORD, CT — Two prominent Avon residents were named to the board of directors of a local nonprofit dedicated to racial equity in the area.
The Urban League of Greater Hartford Board of Directors hosted its 2024 annual meeting on June 20, where Angelo Adams, president of Zipcar; and Graham Robinson, senior vice president and global president of Stanley Industrial at Stanley Black & Decker, Inc. were elected as new directors.
Their appointments were among many named to the board that evening.
“We are excited to welcome the expertise and vision of our officers and our new Board members as our organization enters a new year of empowerment,” said David Hopkins, president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Greater Hartford. “I am excited to work with all of them and our dedicated staff as we conclude another decade of the agency’s legacy of impact.”
Adams has a diverse background in the engineering, military, and business sectors.
“As president of Zipcar, he is focused on championing the company’s mission to enable simple and responsible urban living—a future filled with more car-sharing members than car owners in major cities across the globe,” wrote the League in an announcement.
“Before joining Zipcar, Adams served as an executive at Otis Elevator, where he led teams of increasing responsibility from service manager to general manager and regional director.”
Robinson is a seasoned industrial technology leader whose over 20-year career spans multiple industries and geographies at the intersection of manufacturing, business, and engineering.
“As SVP and global president of Stanley Industrial at Stanley Black & Decker, he leads Stanley Black & Decker’s Industrial business – a leading innovation catalyst and solution partner for the world’s largest manufacturers in the automotive, aerospace, and renewable energy sectors,” wrote the Urban League.
“He joined the organization in 2020 and has since used his technology experience to transform its vast portfolio from being solely product-focused to customer-centric solution-based applications.”
