North Philly is representing with this recent historic move.

In November 2022, Sereena Quick opened a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Philadelphia, PA, making her the first Black woman to own a Chick-fil-A in all of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware — 6abc Action News reports.

“It really is astounding just this accomplishment to really inspire and motivate the people in our community,” Quick told the news station. “The young Black boys and girls in our community, who are going to one day look at me — or even at this opportunity — and say, ‘I too can do this.’”

The grand opening has been months in the making as the 38-year-old was selected to be the Operator earlier this year. The new restaurant, located at 4040 City Ave, is set to create over 100 jobs.

Quick’s feat is yet another example of her entrepreneurship as she previously owned a water ice truck.

Before making history, Quick learned the essence of overcoming adversity. Coming from the public housing community Raymond Rosen Homes and a single-parent home, she pushed forward and graduated from college, according to a Chick-fil-A blog post.

Starting out as a juvenile probation officer in her city, Quick eventually sought out a new chapter in her career journey. Once she met Jon Hooper, the owner/operator of Chick–fil-A, Auto Mall Parkway in Fremont, CA, she knew she wanted to make the pivot into the restaurant industry.

Quick’s true dedication was seen when she crossed paths with Hooper’s best friend, Stanley Webster — who formerly led Chick-fil-A Liberty Place. Quick volunteered at his restaurant, which led to her being encouraged to take the leap into a new career.

In the span of three years, Quick went from being Chick-fil-A Malvern in Pennsylvania’s Executive Director to now, owning her own restaurant in the state.

“I love the city of Philadelphia. I am living proof of its rich history, vibrant diversity and endless possibilities,” Quick shared, according to the blog post. “I am passionate about creating long-term positive change in my community and look forward to this new chapter in the place where I was born and raised.”
