Pictured is Donalsonville business owner Charlene C. Bruton speaking to the well-attended crowd at last year’s Black Business Pioneers Luncheon.

From those who’ve been in business for only a few months to those who’ve been in business in Donalsonville for nearly a half century, the Bainbridge-based Phoenix Affaire Group©️ will honor and award local black business owners during a special Black History Month   Black Business Pioneers Luncheon today, Thursday, February 23rd starting at 12 noon at the swanky Osceola Event Company space (103 E. 2nd Street) located  in historic downtown Donalsonville.

“We look forward to seeing local black business owners and their supporters fill the room.  They deserve the honor and praise for successfully walking in the footsteps of those who’ve come before them.  And so now, especially during Black History Month (BHM), it’s an appropriate time to thank them”, says Phoenix Affaire©️ Executive Producer and Donalsonville-born Rahn d. Fudge who now resides in San Francisco, California.

This year’s honorees will include Donalsonville’s former Man Of The Year Wayne Coachman, Alvin Leonard of the local Northpole Refrigeration fame, and businesswoman  Virginia Carr in business now for 26 years.

Due to last year’s successful turnout at the Black Business Pioneers Luncheon held at the spacious Donalsonville Lions Hall, organizers ask attendees to please pick up free admission tickets to the event this year because of limited capacity seating at the Osceola event space.  Free admission tickets can be picked up at either Pearlie’s department store or Leon’s Cleaners located downtown.

The luncheon event is only part of a string of BHM events being held all week long in five other Southwest Georgia cities hosted by the Phoenix Affaire Group©️ as part of the organization’s 21st annual BHM RISE! Week©️ Celebration happening now through Sunday, February 26th.  For more information about the rest of the week’s festivities or any other questions please call 229-205-0218 (Betty)or email rahn.fudge@ gmail.com for details.
