FRAMINGHAM, MA — For the second consecutive year, the Memorial Building is lit up red, gold, and green to mark Black History Month.
“This gesture serves to raise awareness that February is Black History Month. This month is dedicated to celebrating and honoring the contributions and achievements of Black individuals throughout history. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the struggles and injustices that Black people have endured and continue to confront, while recognizing their resilience and strength,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. “By acknowledging and celebrating Black history, we can strive toward a more inclusive and equitable society.”
This year is the 325th anniversary of the incorporation of Framingham as a Town.
The Framingham 325th Celebration Committee will host an exhibit at the Memorial Building later this month to honor the contributions from Black individuals from 1700 to today. The public will be invited. More details to come.
