TUPELO, Miss. (WLBT) – Fourteen African-American leaders from across the Magnolia State have been named as Mississippi’s Most Influential African Americans for 2023-24.
The list came out in February and includes 14 people named by an independent panel of business and community leaders, according to a news release from the magazine.
Honorees include several metro area honorees, including WLBT’s own Maggie Wade Dixon.
Congratulations to all the selected individuals, and also to all the individuals nominated,” Our Mississippi Publisher Wesley Wells said in a news release. “There were so many to choose from. We’re proud of them all and their great work for the state of Mississippi.”
Wells said dozens of people were nominated in various categories, including business, education, politics, religion, media, and servant leadership. The group will be honored at an event on March 23 in Tupelo.

- Rosa M. Beckett – CEO of the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority
- Dr. Charles Bouldin – Owner, North Mississippi Physical Therapy
- Kim Crumble – Director and plant manager, APMM
- Rip Daniels – Entrepreneur
- Maggie Wade Dixon – News anchor, WLBT
- Willie Fairley – Director, Ingalls Shipbuilding
- Craig Jackson – General Manager, C Spire
- Carla Kirkland – CEO, The Kirkland Group
- Kirk Lewis – CEO, Blue Springs Metals
- Bishop Clarence Parks – Founder and Senior Bishop, Temple of Compassion and Deliverance
- Dr. Rickey Thigpen – President and CEO, Visit Jackson
- Victor Taylor – Vice President of Manufacturing, Nissan Canton
- Dr. Alexandria White – Senior Vice President, Reboot Accel
- Dr. Antwon Woods – Dean, School of Business, Alcorn State University
