(KOAM) — The city of Miami discusses issues throughout the town, HVAC and plumbing companies experience a spike in calls, and possible black bear sightings in Missouri.

Below are the top three headlines to know before you head out the door.

MIAMI, Okla. — The city of Miami held a town hall meeting Thursday night about flooding issues in town.

The mayor says the Grand River Dam Authority, a power electric utility, has been flooding Miami for decades.

The mayor along with the city’s legal team took some time to hear from the public about the impacts the flooding may have had on them.

(KOAM) — The bitter cold can also take its toll on your home’s pipes and heating system.

HVAC and plumbing companies see a rise in business during this time of year fixing broken and frozen pipes, as well as furnaces.

One business owner says one thing you can do to help protect your furnace is to change your filters.

MISSOURI — Don’t be surprised if you happen to see a black bear if you are a Missouri resident.

The black bear population in the show-me-state has grown over the last ten years.

The Missouri Department of Conservation say the population growth is a success story and credits the department for the state’s bear management program.
