Details of what happened at night The Real Housewives of Potomac star Karen Huger has been arrested for DUI.
Police in Maryland have released dashcam footage that shows what appears to be drunk Huger and his 2017 Maserati, which he damaged after hitting the median and a crosswalk sign before crashing into a tree.
A jury this week found Huger, 61, guilty of DUI on several other charges, including careless driving, in the March 2024 incident.
Body cam footage first acquired by Fox 5 DC shows Huger standing by a damaged white car that appears to be in a ditch on the side of the road.
As he leaves in the ambulance, the responding officer informs Huger that he is recording his body camera.
At one point, her husband comes to the aid of the recalcitrant Huger, who refuses to hand over his driver’s license to the officers.He also helps her answer the officer’s questions.
When the officer asks Huger if she remembers the car accident, she hesitates before saying yes. “You said someone ran you off the road,” Huger’s husband adds.
Police arrested Huger after a back-and-forth with officers who tried to keep him from his car, which they said was on fire.He also refused a field sobriety test.
During the trial. Page six reports that the cousin testified in Huger’s defense that he spoke to her on the phone the night she crashed. He said that although Huger was upset about personal matters, she did not seem intoxicated at the time.
Under Maryland lawDrivers convicted of driving violations face up to $1,000 in fines and up to a year in jail for a first offense.In addition, drivers will accrue 12 points on their driving record.
