“Hey Ya” was off the now beloved Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, a 2003 double album.
Atlanta hip-hop duo OutKast have achieved many milestones throughout their career, but they only recently received their first diamond single certification.
By: HipHopDX:It was Andre 3000’s “Hey Ya” single authenticated diamond (denoting ten million units sold) The single was released in 2003 from a double album, Speakerboxxx/Love below. The album went Diamond 15 months after its release.
Speakerboxxx/Love below was the next-to-last album released by the duo. Idle, released in 2006
The double album featured two solo albums by Andre 3000 and Big Boi. “Hey Ya” was the second single released from the project.
The song was nominated for three Grammys, winning one for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. It spent nine weeks on the Billboard singles chart. Speakerboxxx/Love below It also brought the duo two more Grammys: Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.
While music fans are clamoring for a new OutKast album, the best thing they can do right now is buy some official OutKast gear.In November, Big Boi took to social media showcase a limited-edition apparel line of sweatshirts and hoodies featuring the OutKast and Falcons logos prominently displayed on the product.
Not recently Rolling Stone interview, Andre 3000 has been revealed that there is no reunion album in the near future. Last year the eclectic musician has been released an all-instrumental album, New Blue Sun.
“I will say maybe 10, 15 years ago, I thought an OutKast album was going to happen,” he said. I think it’s a matter of chemistry. We have to want to do it. It’s hard for me to rap, you know. And sometimes I believe in ‘Let things be.’
