A Texas attorney claims they offered a former client money to sue his law firm.
In the latest chapter of the Jay-Z/Tony Buzbee feud, a Texas attorney is suing the billionaire and his Roc Nation company, alleging they violated Texas state law by offering one of his former clients money to sue his law firm.
By: USA TodayBuzbee has has been submitted lawsuit against not only the entrepreneur and his entertainment company, but also the lawyer and law firm Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel representing Jay-Z, respectively.
The lawsuit was filed Dec. 18 in Harris County, Texas.
Jay-Z before asked In 2000, he was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. dismissed after NBC News reported that there were “inconsistencies” in the now 38-year-old’s story.
Croft, who works with Team Roc, the philanthropic arm of Roc Nation, released a written statement to the media regarding the latest lawsuit.
“Tony Buzby has now concocted fantastical allegations against me and my company in a desperate attempt to distract from his major legislative troubles. We look forward to addressing and dismissing these false allegations,” Kraft said USA Today.
Buzby addressed the lawsuit on his social media page, noting that the lawsuit is being filed by a former client of his who alleged that the attorneys’ agents were posing as Texas state employees.
He said they “flashed a false badge” and offered a former client up to $10,000 to file a lawsuit against Buzbee Law Firm. He also claims that this was a directive from Roc Nation. Buzbee claims that similar action has happened more than two dozen times to date and resulted in two completely frivolous cases against the company.
“Tony Buzbee’s lawsuit against Roc Nation is nothing more than another hoax,” Roc Nation said in a statement true justice will soon be served.”
The original lawsuit was first filed in October in the Southern District of New York, naming Sean “Diddy” Combs as the person accused of sexually assaulting a then 13-year-old girl recharged it, adding Jay-Z as a second defendant.
Jay-Z denied those claims.
