Jim Carrey is excited that families can continue the journey Team Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Carrey sat down with Trey Mangum, editor-in-chief of Blavity/Shadow and Act, to discuss his dual role as Dr. Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik. When asked about the film being her main acting role in recent years, aside from the Showtime series joke, Carrey said he felt “gratified” during the first installments of the film series, because families were able to spend time together during the COVID pandemic.

Now, he said, he’s a fan of where the franchise is going.
“I like where it’s going. I really like where the movies have gone and all these great people that are coming together,” he said. “… Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves, it’s amazing, the men that every man would like to be and they’re throwing themselves into this thing. I think they all feel it’s the heart. It’s a great way to do the superhero genre in a different way.”
We keep coming back to the world of Sonic
Carrey also talked about what other projects he might be doing, he always wants to return to the world of Sonic and the group of people who have now made the franchise a safe space for fans.
“Every time they come back to me with this, I look at the look of the people I’ve been working with, and it’s a great family, and everyone who comes together feels the same way,” he said. “I had a good chat with Keanu last night, and he seemed like a perfect fit. He really loved the atmosphere on the set, the atmosphere of (director) Jeff Fowler, all these good people. We like people who come from cartoons for some reason have a really charming sensibility.”
