lil durk has been accused of having a role in another murder, which occurred in Chicago two years ago. For ABC7court records unsealed Thursday allege he is behind the 2022 fatal shooting of Stephon Mack.
The rapper is already facing murder charges in Los Angeles over a murder-for-hire scheme. According to ABC7, he allegedly planned to kill Tyquian Bowman, the Georgia rapper known as Quando Rondo, in Los Angeles. lil durk pleaded not guilty to the charges.
No charges have currently been filed against the rapper in connection with Mack’s death.
For the Los Angeles TimesA 2023 redacted warrant alleges that Banks, whose birth name is Devontay Durk Banks, “offered money for individuals to kill those responsible for his brother’s murder and, more specifically, offered to pay money to any gangster disciple who is killed.”
The search warrant states that Lil Durk’s brother, Dontay Banks, Jr., was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Illinois in June 2021.
“Evidence collected in this case also shows that the defendant allegedly placed monetary rewards to solicit other murders, including a relative of a witness,” California prosecutors said in a filing, according to the LA Times . “The defendant’s modus operandi is clear: He will use his power, money, influence and any pre-trial freedom to endanger anyone he perceives as a threat, including witnesses in this case.”
Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell have been charged with Mack’s murder, according to the US attorney’s office. The spokesperson declined to comment on whether Lil Durk will be charged.
Jonathan Brayman, one of Lil Durk’s lawyers, said “we don’t anticipate that he will be charged” after the hearing, the LA Times reported.
