Trace Ellis Ross and Rashida Jones they are back together in the new season of Netflix’s Black mirror.
Ross and Jones told Blavity/Shadow and the administrative publisher Trey Mangum about working together after starring in sisters black-ish.
“This is another stop of the Tracee-Rashida trip. Another, another stop on the train,” said Jones.
“Hopefully there is more. It was really fantastic,” added Jones. “I love to work with friends and it was great for Rashida and I. It’s an opportunity for us to catch up.”

The first episode of the seventh season, “Common People”, Star Jones as Amanda, a teacher who has a medical emergency who leaves her almost death. Her husband soon learns of a new technology system, Rivermind, who could help keep Amanda alive. Ross also stars Gaynor, a Rivermind patient and representative referring to Amanda’s husband in the program.
Jones and Ross said that the episode opens conversations about how the mercantile society has become, especially with the subscription services that cover almost all aspects of daily life.
“For me, this is the end result. I mean, this is the peak of capitalism,” said Jones. “You know, the subscription model is just the highest type of technology, the most complicated of all that is capitalism. Capitalism (promotes the idea that) if you have money to make it, we will make you possible. We will make you special if you have money. If you do not have the money, we will make you feel bad.
“I mean, I think the positive turn is like all the best with capitalism and all you have to do is work hard, you can also be at the highest level,” said Jones. “I mean, we know that all this is not true. But (Rivermind) does not feel different from the whole model. It’s just the late phase version. The extreme version.”

Ross also said that the episode analyzes how people need to remember to question the expectations of society.
“I think for me the episode really made me think what happens when technology and medicine and science move by humanity passing. Where leaves us this? And what are the options you have to do and what are the good options? And just because it makes it easy for you or makes you what you want. Is it the correct choice?” Said Ross.
“I think we continue to face this.
