In a strong celebration of black excellence in education, the Tau Omega branch of Alpha Capa Alpha of Noxies, you about a memorial plate honoring the life and legacy of the teacher Margaret Douglas on May 14, 2025, at PS 36 in Brooklyn.
Douglas, a leading figure in the general education system in New York City, has achieved history the third black manager in the city, the first black woman to appoint the school supervisor, and the deputy supervisor of the 19th educational zone in Brooklyn. Her contributions have re -driving in education and opened paths for generations of black teachers.


It is constructed by the installation of the Black, presented by PS 36 students and led by the head of the Tao Omega Valeri branch M. Henderson, to the permanent legacy of Douglas. “We are proud to celebrate the Margaret Douglas heritage,” Henderson said. “Her work is the way for countless teachers and leaders. Her story is a vital part of our history and a bright example of commitment to education and society that can accomplish it.”

This moment reflects the task of alpha Capa Alpha National to raise societies through education, civil participation and public service. The Tao Omega branch was established in 1925, the first semester of Alpha Capa Alpha from Harlem Club, and was a fixed force for scholarships and service throughout New York City.


The painting now stands as a permanent reminder of the influence of Douglas – a symbol of flexibility, progress and the strength of black women in the formation of educational institutions.
