The New York Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., in collaboration with their Kappa League program, MetroPlus Health, and the New York Achievement Foundation, brought the spirit of giving to the Harlem community this holiday season. From November 18 to 22, the initiative distributed 300 turkeys to families in need, embodying the brotherhood’s enduring mission of service.
The turkey giveaway began at the Convent Baptist Church and culminated in the Percy Sutton Educational Complex located within Eagle Academy. Members of Kappa League, the fraternity’s mentorship program, led the distribution effort at the complex, honoring Percy Sutton — a Harlem icon, former Manhattan president, and Kappa Alpha Psi member.
“This initiative not only addressed an immediate need in our community, but also honored the enduring legacy of Percy Sutton, a visionary leader who dedicated his life to service, justice and empowerment,” said James McIntosh Jr., director of Guide Right in New York. York Alumni Chapter. “We are proud to continue his work and celebrate his contributions as a Kappa.”
The event emphasized the chapter’s commitment to Harlem through mentorship, service and collaboration. The partnership with MetroPlus Health, the initiative’s lead sponsor, was instrumental in its success, furthering the organization’s mission to support underserved communities throughout New York City.
