Dr. Bowman is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health at the University of Michigan, holding a collective professor at Roderick J. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and a colleague of both the American Statistical Association and the American Association for Science.

In addition to his brothers and academic affiliations, Dr. Bowman is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He has maintained close relationships with Morehouse throughout his career, directing students and creating a pipeline for the University of Michigan for university students from Morehouse and Spelman. In 2019, he received the Bennie Trailblazer Award, the highest honor of graduates in the college.
