The family remained heartbroken in Georgia after 15 years Amanda Sylvester collapsed during volleyball practice. The incident reportedly took place at the Tracy Wyatt Recreation Center in College Park, Ga. Additionally, EMS allegedly failed to legally transport Sylvester to the hospital for medical attention.
When he was later taken away by his mother, it was ultimately too late.
Could something have been done differently to prevent this tragedy?
now The shadow room Justin Carter delves deeper into the incidentTSR is investigating.
This is what happened to 15-year-old Amanda Sylvester, who fell during volleyball practice.
According to Carter, Sylvester was running alongside a teammate when surveillance footage suddenly showed him stop and put his hands on his knees, at which point an adult appeared to leave the gym to call 911.
Nine minutes later, an EMT car shows up in the parking lot.
“EMTs were able to stabilize the teenager, who was alert and unable to speak. An ambulance was also requested via 911 and College Park Fire Rescue never responded to the call.” The City of College Park announced in a follow-up statement.
Bystanders eventually helped Sylvester into his mother’s van. According to Carter, the EMTs thought Sylvester was having a seizure. By law, medical technicians are not allowed to take patients to the hospital, according to Carter.
More details on 15-year-old’s tragic death and EMS delay
According to Carter, emergency dispatch to Sylvester’s location remained at zero throughout the ordeal, meaning there were many emergency calls at the time of the incident, so the 15-year-old was not available. In the end, he died in the hospital.
