HBCU Community Mourns the Passing of Alabama State’s Beloved Band Leader Charles Goodwin III

The HBCU community, Charles Goodwin III, mourned the unexpected passage of the Assistant Group Director for a long time Alabama State University Hornets that march. Goodwin Sunday, his disciples managed to be a legacy to perform strong performance, mentoring and sacrifice.

Goodwin, known for its accuracy, passion and existence, was a reliable leader and cultural force on both ASU and HBCU group in Asu.


To lift the horns of the mighty milar

In the province of Alabama, Goodwin helped the horns of the powerful march to one of the most respected ribbons of the nation. Under his leadership, elite shows competed in elite battles and supported the traditions that determine the experience of the HBCU group.

However, for Goodwin, the mission was extended out of performance. Students headed to the leaders to educate, grow and students. His expectations were high, but the investment was put into the member of each group wearing his uniform.

“He did not teach music – he taught him life,” he said. “We knew he cared for us to never solve.”

Southern University’s human juke also sent a message of solidarity and a reflective of how much HBCU group is really intense than the world.

These messages emphasize how much Goodwin affects the effect. From Montgomery to Baton Rouge and beyond, the effect of the effect passed and inspired a generation musician and teacher.


Respect the heritage

Alabama State University announced that this year’s summer band will be dedicated to the memory of Goodwin. Plans for a formal tribute continue and more information will be shared with the public in the coming weeks.
