North Carolina Central University has earned the distinguished CEO Cancer Gold Standard designation, a testament to its unwavering commitment to empowering employee health and strengthening cancer prevention and care initiatives. This remarkable certificate recognizes the university as a leader health promotion in the workplace.
Supported by Danielle Blackwell, associate vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement, NCCU completed a rigorous application to the Director General’s Roundtable on Cancer, a national forum established by former President George HW Bush. The Gold Standard is awarded to employers who prioritize the health and well-being of their workforce. This achievement places NCCU among an elite group of proactive organizations cancer-related health strategies.
In a letter congratulating NCCU on this achievement, Dr. David M. Reese praised Chancellor Karrie Dixon and her team for their continued efforts to foster a healthy work environment.
“At North Carolina Central University, we are committed to supporting our employees in every way possible,” said Chancellor Dixon. “This Gold Standard certification reflects our ongoing efforts to prioritize their health and well-being, and we look forward to building on these initiatives for the future.”
Dean of the College of Health and Sciences Dr. Muhammad Ahmed emphasized the university’s focus on public health and justice in cancer research. “Our researchers work to reduce the impact of cancer through public health education, early diagnosis and treatment. This Gold Standard accreditation strengthens our ability to raise awareness and make a difference in cancer prevention,” he said.
With this appointment, the CEO’s Roundtable on Cancer will provide NCCU with vital resources to improve its health-focused programs.
