Coppin State University has introduced an exciting new initiative to promote homeownership among its employees while contributing to the revitalization of West Baltimore neighborhoods. The Live Near Work program, developed in partnership with the City of Baltimore, offers generous financial incentives for Coppin State employees who choose to purchase homes near their workplaces.
Eligible workers can benefit from grants starting at $50,000 to help cover down payments and home buying costs. Interestingly, these grants can be increased to $90,000 when combined with additional assistance programs, demonstrating the collaborative efforts between Coppin State and city officials to strengthen community development.
The main purpose “Live near your workk” program to encourage university employees to live near their workplaces, thereby strengthening the fabric of West Baltimore communities.
The program makes special considerations to support first-time home buyers and makes the dream of home ownership more accessible to those entering the market.
Who is eligible to live where you work?
Coppin State employees interested in applying to the program must meet specific qualification requirements, including:
– Employment as a full-time, benefits-eligible employee Coppin State.
– Obligation to use the purchased property as a main residence.
– A contract to hold the house for a minimum period of five years.
