Bowie State University, Maryland’s oldest historic Black College and University, Baltimore began.
As it is known today, the school was built in 1865 in the basement of a church on the streets of Saratoga and Calvert.
“It was when slavery was over. There were many businessmen – quakers and lawyers that the new citizen was providing these opportunities, the provision of these opportunities, the 10th President of the University said Aminta BREAUX.
The Baltimore Association was organized to improve the moral and education of colorful people by 46 white people to open schools to educate newly released citizens in 1864.
“We started as Baltimore school in Baltimore in Baltimore.

In 1911, the name of the school, Bowie State University was moved to the district of Prince George.
“After a hundred and sixty years, more than 6,800 students and growing” after all these struggle, BREAUX.
Breaux was reflected in the founders about how much the school was approaching.
“I think they will be afraid of what we achieved today. In this very difficult time in this very difficult time, they laid the foundation of generations to be the higher education of generations during generations,” Breaux said.
29 Magistrates, 20 Master’s programs, 16 qualification certificates and the school has been grew since offering three doctoral programs.
