LaNiece Tyree, MPA, CASP, made history by being elected as the first woman of color and the first representative from a Historically Black College and University to serve as president of the National Association of College Auxiliary Services. Tyree is the assistant vice president of subsidiaries Howard University. Its groundbreaking ceremony took place on October 29 during the prestigious C3X Annual Conference and Expo in Kissimmee, Florida.
In his new roleTyree will oversee NACAS’ 12-member board, guiding critical initiatives shaping the future of support services within higher education. It aims to increase support for ancillary services professionals in North America.
During his acceptance speech, Tyree emphasized the significance of his achievement. “As the first woman of color to hold this position and the first leader of an HBCU, I am honored to be a part of this historic moment,” she said. “Currently, with Rich Steele as CEO of NACAS, we have Dr. We continue the work of Wright L. Lassiter, Jr. and move NACAS toward a future where equity, inclusion, and collaboration drive our mission.”
Tyree’s contributions to the organization were recognized at the C3X conference, where he presented both Drs. Wright L. Lassiter Jr. He received the Legacy Award as well as the Eastern Regional Mentor Award. Heritage Award Dr. Honors individuals who exemplify vision and commitment to service as exemplified by Lassiter. In contrast, the mentor award is presented to NACAS members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to promoting engagement among new members.
With impressive credentials and a commitment to advancing equity in higher education, Tyree’s leadership is expected to inspire a new generation of professionals in the field and take important steps toward inclusion and collaboration.
