Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated became the first sorority affiliated with the National Pan-Hellenic Council to partner with the Hazing Prevention Network. This partnership aims to increase the organization’s commitment to preventing threats and providing a safe environment for new members.
The Hazing Prevention Networka national non-profit organization that educates communities about the risks associated with sabotage. Its mission includes advocating for systemic change and engaging diverse communities in preventive strategies. The partnership with Zeta Phi Beta is an important step forward in addressing these issues within the Greek community.
Gina Merritt-Epps, International First Vice President of Membership, said she is excited about the partnership. “I am honored to elevate Zeta’s pledge and anti-hazing efforts and demonstrate our commitment to a safe admissions process for new members,” he said. The alliance will complement Zeta Phi Beta’s existing programs, such as the Sorority’s Risk Management Certification and a newly launched anti-hazing course designed to educate new members on these critical issues.
Dr. Stacie NC Grant, International President and CEO Zeta Phi Betasaid that he was proud of the active position of the organization against “hazing”. “Our Thinner Women Don’t Smog programming, internal structure and innovative approaches to ensure safety and sustainability make Zeta a leader in this space and set the standard for an action-oriented approach with tangible results,” he noted.
Founded in 2007, the “Hazing Prevention Network” has changed from its initial focus on punitive measures to a more proactive approach to the fight against “hazing”. The organization has developed a wide range of educational resources aimed at students at various levels, from high school to college, and continues to expand its reach and impact.
As part of this important partnership, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority promotes safe practices and sets a strong example by eliminating hazing.
