As Sam Shade has been hired by Alabama A&M to be the school’s next football coach, the Miles College recruiting trail has already begun.
Here are all the former Golden Bears who have joined Shade at Alabama A&M thus far.
Jeremiah Hudson-Davis, DB
Commitment: January 1st
The first player to officially announce that he was following Coach Shade to Huntsville was All-SIAC linebacker Jeremiah Hudson-Davis.
Davis played two seasons at Miles, including the 2024 season in which he had a breakout season as the team’s starter.
He recorded 71 total, 2.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, four interceptions, four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
The sophomore linebacker had his best performance in the team’s SIAC championship win over Clark Atlanta, recording two interceptions.
Jaylyn Chambers, DB
Dangerous: January 6
The other linebacker from Miles to Alabama A&M is freshman Jaylyn Chambers. Chambers is one of two freshmen from Miles to transfer to Alabama A&M.
The freshman linebacker has the least amount of game experience last season, playing just five games.
However, he made the most of his playing time, recording seven tackles, 1.0 sacks, 1.0 tackles for loss, one interception and three pass breakups.
Kamoni Merrell, DL
Dangerous: January 6
Another freshman making the jump to Huntsville with Coach Shade is defensive lineman Khamoni Merrell.
Merrell played seven games for the Golden Bears, recording nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Travaunta Abner, TE
Dangerous: January 9
The latest name to be added to the Miles to Alabama A&M pipeline is All-SIAC tight end Travaunte Abner.
Abner, who transferred to the team in 2023 after playing two seasons at Carson-Newman, is the only player on this list who did not start his college career at Miles.
He recorded 45 receptions for 692 yards and six touchdowns in 19 total games during his two years at Miles. He was named to the All-SIAC First Team in each of his two seasons.
