A rematch of the previous Celebration Bowl drew an impressive television audience to kick off bowl season, according to the latest ratings report.
Jackson State’s 28-7 rout of South Carolina State on Saturday, the second-largest victory in Celebration Bowl history, drew an average of 2.1 million viewers on ABC. HBCU Gameday reported.
On Saturday, ratings rose 37 percent to 2.6 million viewers.
The 2023 game, in which Florida A&M defeated Howard 30-26 to win its first HBCU national title since 1999, drew 1.51 million viewers on ABC, the lowest-rated Celebration Bowl at the time.
