The Michael Vick experience extends beyond the HBCU.
Vick, a 13-year NFL player who has thrilled fans with his strong arm and quick feet, was hired Tuesday night as the new head coach of the Norfolk State football program. He will try to lead the program to the top of the MEAC.
According to a report by Glenn Irby of Yahoo! sports, Vic has agreed with the university and a press conference will be held during the week to introduce them.
A source close to Vick with direct knowledge of the situation confirmed the deal to HBCU Sports on Tuesday.
Vic Dawson will replace Odums. Released last month after a four-year run in which Norfolk State compiled a 15-31 overall record.
Vick will become the latest NFL commit at an HBCU, following Deion Sanders’ three-year run at Jackson State and Eddie George’s current stint at Tennessee State, where he led the Tigers to the FCS playoffs this season.
