Black media mogul, owner of Weather Channel and local TV stations, featured on network morning show | News

(KWWL) – Media mogul and owner of Allen Media Broadcasting, the parent company of KWWL, will be featured on a network morning show Sunday morning.

TheGrio, a sister publication to KWWL under the Allen Media umbrella, reports that Byron Allen will be featured as part of Black History Month on the network.

Allen, a Black man, is expected to speak to the importance of being a role model to Black entrepreneurs and how to push for greater diversity in the business world using his business interests.

Along with KWWL, Allen owns around three dozen local television stations, 12 cable networks, six streaming platforms and various other interests that include The Weather Channel. Allen’s purchase of The Weather Channel made him the first Black American to own and operate a 24-hour mainstream cable news network. In earlier February, Allen also announced plans to bid for the Denver Broncos. If the bid is successful, it would make Allen the first Black majority owner of an NFL franchise.

Allen, in the network interview, said he views Allen Media Group as a way to increase programming centered on Black issues and maximize Black economic inclusion.

Allen’s interview with Lee Cowan, CBS Sunday Morning correspondent, airs as part of CBS Sunday Morning at 8 a.m. on local CBS affiliate stations.
