Following Charlie Woods State Title, Tiger To Play At PGA Event

Tiger Woods caused an unintentional stir when he caddied 54 holes of golf for his son at the National Championships.

Like father, like son. Tiger Woods watched from the gallery as his son, Charlie Woods, a freshman 14-year-old golfer, helped his Florida high school to a state title in golf. According to Sports Illustrated, the Benjamin School won the Florida High School Athletic Association Class 1A state title, and Charlie posted rounds of 78 and 76 during the tournament. Charlie’s scores were only good enough to earn him a 26th-place finish, but the team’s scores were collectively good enough to win the tournament.

As the Palm Beach Post reported, the younger Woods seems to have inherited his father’s unflappable cool under pressure. Even though he finished 17th at the National Championships, he appears unphased by the pressure that comes with being the son of Tiger Woods. His father caused an unintentional stir when he caddied 54 holes of golf for his son at the event, with many speculating that Tiger could look to return to PGA competition soon.

According to ESPN, Woods is currently preparing to play in the Hero World Challenge, an event in the Bahamas that he hosts. A post from the Golf Digest official account on Twitter/X indicates that Woods will be participating in the event. Woods has not played on a PGA Tour event since The Masters in April 2023. Woods had ankle surgery to fuse bones in an attempt to fix arthritis problems Woods was having after a single-car accident in 2021. Woods has not made an appearance in his tournament since 2019.

Woods told the Associated Press earlier in November, “My ankle is fine.”

He added, “Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever. That pain is completely gone. It’s the other areas that have been compensated for. But all the surrounding areas is where I had all my problems and I still do,” Woods said. “So you fix one, others have to become more hypermobile to get around it, and it can lead to some issues.”
