Nova Farms CT made history as the city’s first cannabis dispensary. A three-day celebration will occur from Thursday through Saturday.
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — From live music to good food, Connecticut’s newest cannabis dispensary is going all out this weekend to celebrate its grand opening in New Britain.
Nova Farms CT, the city’s first-ever cannabis dispensary, opened its doors last month but is taking the time to welcome the community in the coming days. From Thursday through Saturday, there will be ongoing festivities at the business, located at 623 Hartford Rd.
The celebration begins at 11 a.m. on Thursday, when a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Erin Stewart is scheduled to commemorate the local milestone.
On Friday from 5-7 p.m., Nova Farms CT will host a Community & Wellness Day. In attendance will be House Majority Leader Jason Rojas and CT NAACP President Scott X Esdaile, as well as several other elected state officials.
During the event, a Nova Farms licensed pharmacist will be available to speak with the officials about plant-based medicine and Nova Farms’ Social Equity commitment.
A networking event for professionals will follow at 7 p.m. It will be hosted by the Southern New England Association of Black Journalists and the Crawford Bar Association.
The festivities will continue Saturday, with the Nova Farmer’s Market from 12-6 p.m. The initiative will feature food trucks, local vendors and high-quality entertainment. This is a free event, but attendees must be age 21 or older.
At 3 p.m., local rap fans are likely to make their way to the spot on Hartford Road, as one of Connecticut’s most famous hip-hop artists – Chris Webby – will perform a show hosted by Jenny Boom Boom from HOT 93.7, the state’s premier hip-hop station.
As is evidenced by the planning that’s gone into this weekend’s events, Nova Farms CT emphasized the importance of being a good community member, while it operates in the city.
The team at the Black-owned business said it is committed to empowering the local community, providing high-quality cannabis products and facilitating meaningful conversations on cannabis equity, inclusion and responsible retail.
Led by CEO Jason Teal, Nova Farms CT is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality and accessible cannabis products with a focus on community engagement, education and wellness.
“We are excited to bring Nova Farms CT to New Britain and to serve our community with a premier cannabis dispensary,” Teal said. “This is more than just a business – it’s about creating opportunities, breaking barriers and ensuring that everyone has access to quality cannabis products in a welcoming environment.”
Nova Farms CT is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
