GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Black Friday deals are starting here soon for major stores and online websites, but for businesses in the area, Small Business Saturday gives them a chance for big discounts and savings.
“I think it’s important because it keeps the money local,” said Larry Alvarez of Edward’s Audio.
Edward’s Audio will be open on Small Business Saturday like many other establishments and will have a discount for customers.
“Our main promo, this is gonna be our first year ever doing a discount on remote starts, but this year on Black Friday we’re doing $50 off any remote start system for the day. So, as long as you come in and pay for it that day, you’ll get $50 bucks off.” said Alvarez.
Like Edwards Audio, Good Life Glass looks to keep money local and give a chance to small businesses.
“We’re just doing Black Friday and Small Business Saturday back-to-back days, and I think it’s a huge opportunity for all those that go out to Best Buy, you know those big corporate companies, but it still gives them the opportunity to come in the next day, and come in and not feel like they don’t have to fight the line.” saidBrennan Schiernbeck of Good Life Glass.
Good Life Glass said they look at themselves like a glass and art shop now, and are running a big discount.
“We got our water pipes, they will be buy one get one for $4 and 20 cents, so you can come in here and spend $300 on one and get another one that’s $300 for $4.20 cents. We’ll do 42% off hand pipes, and four t-shirts for $20, so $5 a t shirt. So that’s a pretty good deal and then 20% off electronics and 20% off everything else store wide.”
In downtown Grand Island, Amanda Hadenfeldt owns the store, A-List Boutique, a modern fashion and accessory experience.
“So we just had our fourth birthday yesterday, actually speaking of the big birthday celebration. But we are here just to encourage women to be confident and feel good in their own skin, so we have from clothing to accessories, to we just got everything in here, gift items, you name it, we have it, shoes all the good things. And so yeah, you can just kind of come here for a one stop shop.” said Hadenfeldt.
A-List Boutique will have a big discount for loyal and new customers who come through the doors.
“We’re coming out with some fun, Friday is gonna be full of fun little door busters, so you have all kinds of killer deals through the day on Friday, and then shop small is gonna be 50% off the store just to give back to you guys who support us and have been loyal customers for so long. Then to really encourage you guys to shop small, especially with our crazy economy, and the world the way it is, it’s so important to keep us all of the small businesses down here and everywhere around for you guys, ’cause we want to be here. So yes, it’s super important to shop small so that’s why we’re offering that huge sale so you can come out and see us.”
Be sure to go to your local small businesses when looking for what you want to buy during Black Friday weekend.
