Shortly after the March 27 decision, Selena’s family published a statement through the missing singer Instagram account.

“Today we are grateful that the Board of Pardons and Paroles of Texas has chosen to deny the probation on Yolanda Saldívar,” the message read. “Although nothing can return to Selena, this decision reaffirms that justice continues to defend the beautiful life that took us out of us and millions of fans around the world too soon.”
The family also shared their life goal is to keep Selena’s memory alive.
“Selena’s legacy is a love, music and inspiration. She lived with joy, gave selflessness and continues to raise generations with her voice and spirit,” he continued his statement. “As a family and their loved ones, we are committed to preserving their memory and ensuring that its history is honored with the dignity and respect it deserves.”
The statement concluded with a thank you to the fans: “We thank the fans of Selena for their unmatched support over the years. Your love has been a source of strength and healing. We will continue to celebrate the life of Selena, not the tragedy that brought her from us, and ask that everyone who loves her do the same.”
