KANSAS CITY, Mo. – One Kansas City nonprofit is shining a spotlight on Black-owned restaurants in the area.
Kansas City G.I.F.T announced the release of their first Black-owned restaurant passport called “Savor The Flavor” on Friday.

The passport includes 13 Black-owned restaurants in the Kansas City metro, providing recommendations, QR codes to their menus and an interactive feature that allows patrons to rate each restaurant on a scale of one to five plates.
There’s a multitude of food options to choose from. PeachTree Cafeteria, Ruby Jean’s Juicery and The Combine KC are just a few of the restaurants encompassed in the passport.
“As the current administration is trying to actively tear down support for Black and Brown communities, KC G.I.F.T. remains dedicated to supporting Black-owned businesses through aggressive funding and support,” said Brandon Calloway, CEO/Co-Founder of Kansas City G.I.F.T.

“As a community, it is up to us to actively create the world we want to see. This passport offers a fun and engaging way for people to take action on that and make a difference by supporting local Black entrepreneurs.”
The passports can be picked up at the G.I.F.T. Business Center at 5008 Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, and select restaurants.
