BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Small Business Saturday is right around the corner, and that means mom and pop shops all across the Treasure Valley are getting ready.
Re-POP Gifts is already in the holiday spirit, promoting sales through decorations and music.
It’s the holiday rush for Re-POP. Anyone who spends 30 dollars or more there will get a tote bag full of goodies.
“When you’re shopping local a lot of the money you spend is actually staying in the community,” said Millie Hilgert, owner of Re-POP Gifts. “Which helps all of us. You’re supporting your neighbors.”
And they’re not the only shop on the bloc with Saturday deals. Mixed Greens Modern Gifts also has promotions.
“20 percent off just one item,” said Hannah Deuel, owner of Mixed Greens. “So whatever item is in your purchase we’ll do 20 percent off on one of them and then we are going to do a free gift with purchase.”
“A lot of our jewelry and stuff is also made by the owner herself,” Frankie Khayat, sales associate at Mixed Greens, said. “So she’s getting first-hand stuff on what the customers want.”
Other stores are getting new supplies for Small Businesses Saturday.
Mary Mandel owns Olivin and The Mixing Bowl. Interestingly, her two shops are connected, so customers can bounce back and forth between them.
“After surviving last year we have definitely seen growth,” Mandel said. “The valley is growing, and we’ve seen a little bit of growth in sales this year.”
Small Business Saturday only comes once a year. So remember to shop local, before doors close on Saturday night.
Re-POP Gifts is open Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
