Spelman College crown his 42nd Miss Spelman Pageant Winner Sunday. The young student Taylor Mills was selected from six contestants during the contest, which took place in the Chapel of the Sisters of Spelman on April 12.
Mills is now the Ambassador of Spelman and acts as a representative of the basic values of HBCU academic excellence, ethical leadership and commitment to positive social change.

“I am very grateful. I am very honored. I did it not only for myself, but for my institution, and I am excited to work and show who we are like Hbcu number one,” he said Channel 2 action news.
The message of Miss Spelman’s authenticity
Mills has been campaigning on social networks with recocated videos and a general message of authenticity. He also performed a African dance performance as part of his campaign to be crowned.
“His dance performance hit a cord with many, illustrating the strength and grace he has as his leader,” the HBCU said in a press release.
Mills campaigned with the slogan “A truly blue” online. The HBCU pointed to its presence on social media. It echoes the success that this year’s campaign has had beyond the school community. Several competition videos were viral in Tiktok.
“His social media person is a true reflection of who he is, real, recourse and crude,” wrote Spelman College. “As he arrived at the Spelman campus, his content immediately resonated with the students and his journey since then has only deepened his roots within the Brotherhood of Spelman.”
Mills hopes that their new role can help inspire others to be themselves while showing diversity among women Spelman.
“Showingly showing my journey and celebrating all the sides of a spelman woman, whether academic, artistic or personal, I hope to inspire others to embrace – Instagram. “The women of Spelman are not a monolith, and it is their time to fully celebrate the dynamic layers that make us who we are.”
