Ace Rhoad is a Black business owner out of Grantville.
He created Smoking Aces BBQ in 2020 after losing his job during the pandemic.
“So, I was working at Bob Discount Furniture doing sales, and when COVID hit, I lost my job. So I started cooking,” Rhoad said. “I planned on going back to work and never went back.”
Rhoad said Smoking Aces BBQ began as a food truck, and today, his business has grown to a sit-down restaurant on Firehouse Road in Grantville.
“My dream come true,” Rhoad said. “This is my dream.”
