- June 14 Juneteenth Celebration – Learn about the history and tradition of Juneteenth at Isotopes Park. The game starts at 6:35 p.m. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Clear Cross-Body Bag, courtesy of AARP.
- June 14-15 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show happens every Friday and Saturday at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.
- June 15 2024 Black Business Summit – The event is free to attend and will held from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
- June 15 Daily Lobo Alumni Hall of Honor Celebration Dinner – The Daily Lobo’s annual Hall of Honor celebration dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. in Hodgin Hall.
- June 15 Heights Summerfest – From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., North Domingo Baca Park will be host to music, food, and fun.
- June 15 Downtown Growers’ Market – The market happens every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Robinson Park.
- June 15-16 Flea Market – Head to ExpoNM to check out trinkets, charms, and more. Admission is $10 per car or $2 for walk-ups.
- June 18 Early Childhood Bilingual Storytime – This free event at the National Hispanic Cultural Center begins at 10:00 a.m.
- June 19 Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative Open Mic Night at Ancora – Every Wednesday night, Ancora Cafe and Bakery offers an open mic from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- June 20 ABQ Indie Film Festival – Taking place at Fusion ABQ, the ABQ Indie Film Festival begins at 6:00 p.m. and tickets are $10.

🔶 Crews to begin work on Rio Bravo Boulevard near Second Street – The work on the Rio Bravo Boulevard Gap Improvements Project began on Monday, June 10. Crews will be adding a travel lane on Rio Bravo Boulevard, from Prince Street to Second Street, increasing the number of lanes from four to six. Crews will also add a trail connection, sidewalks, bike lanes, lighting, and signal upgrades.
🔶 Albuquerque Public Schools finalizes 2025 graduation schedule – APS said that most seniors will graduate the week of May 19. College & Career High School graduates will remain first in line for their diplomas. They will walk across the stage with caps and gowns on May 2, more than two weeks before seniors at other APS high schools.
🔶 Free microchipping from Animal Welfare Department – Free microchipping and pet tags will be available for Albuquerque residents from June 1 through July 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Westside and Eastside shelters. No appointment is needed.
🔶 New multigenerational center opens in historic Albuquerque neighborhood – The Department of Senior Affairs held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Santa Barbara Martineztown Multigenerational Center, located at 1825 Edith Blvd. NE. The center includes a computer lab, a classroom, and a multipurpose space that can be converted into a pickleball court.
🔶 Dept. of Labor: Two Albuquerque seafood restaurants withheld employee tips, wages – The department said the Crackin’ Crab locations on Pan American Freeway NE and Louisiana Boulevard NE broke federal law when they kept parts of tips that should have gone to 19 employees.
🔶 Bernalillo County offering free movie nights at local community centers – The free movie nights will include family-friendly films like 101 Dalmatians and Wonka. The movies will be shown on weekends starting at sundown. Gates open at 7:00 p.m., and moviegoers are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks.
🔶 New light-based art installations coming to downtown Albuquerque – “City Brights II” will showcase light-based art at 10 sites in the downtown area, including around Lomas Boulevard, Broadway Boulevard, 12th Street, and Coal Avenue. The city is currently looking for artists to participate in the project and will provide them funding in the amounts of up to $2,500, $5,000, and $10,000.
🔶 Free summer lunch program returns in Bernalillo County – Beginning June 3, free lunch will be served daily to children at different locations around Bernalillo County. Children must be between the ages of 1 to 18 years old to receive a meal. Meals must be consumed at the meal site (except for non-congregate sites), all meals are first come, first served, and participants must receive the entire meal.
🔶 Explora hosting Mosaic of Marks, Words, and Material exhibition – The exhibition runs from May 15 – August 16. The exhibit will include an art studio where young visitors, their families, and educators can explore hands-on mark-making materials.
🔶 New Mexico State Fair holding auditions to sing the National Anthem – The live auditions will be at the Boxcar Stage from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the EXPO New Mexico on August 6. To audition live, you must sign up by August 5.

🔶 Free summer food service program for children resumes in New Mexico – The Early Childhood Education and Care Department in New Mexico has begun its free food service for children ages 1-18. The service aims to provide free meals to children during summer break. The department said more than 600 locations in the state are providing free meals through August.
🔶 Empower! Black Futures Community Fund supports the black community in New Mexico – Through grants, partnerships, and community philanthropy the Empower! Black Futures Community Fund aims to foster artistic expression, preserve culture, and promote community development in the black community.
🔶 New Mexico gas prices relatively low as summer travel begins – Gas prices are relatively low thanks to a growing nationwide oil supply, according to AAA New Mexico. AAA puts the statewide average price of regular unleaded at $3.199 per gallon, as of June 13. That’s 23 cents lower than a year ago.
🔶 Santa Ana Pueblo reacquires 60,000 acres of land – Officials from the Bureau of Indian Affairs signed the land into the trust for the Tamayakwikee Nee Puu. The land holds traditional importance to the pueblo of Santa Ana and was formerly part of the King Alamo Ranch, owned by the family of former Governor Bruce King.
🔶 Rail Runner offering free rides for students – Students ages 17 and under will be able to ride the Rail Runner Express for free starting June 1. The promotion will run through July 31.
🔶 New Mexico lawmakers frustrated as they debate oil and gas setbacks – New Mexico is the nation’s second-largest oil producer, but some are concerned about the environmental and health impacts of drilling near urban areas. Lawmakers are considering requiring separation or “setbacks” between drilling operations and protected areas.
🔶 Santa Fe hosts ‘Summer Fire Truck Spray Down’ events for kids – The City of Santa Fe Community Engagement Department and Santa Fe Fire Department are providing a free way for kids to cool down this summer. The departments are hosting “Summer Fire Truck Spray Down” events at Swan Park.
🔶 New Mexico lawmakers in Congress want to offer $30,000 grants for first-time homeowners – New Mexico’s housing prices outrank many other locales, but some of the state’s representatives in Congress are trying to help first-time homebuyers with a $30,000 grant. The bill aims to make homeownership a possibility for more Americans.
🔶 Summer events in Cloudcroft, New Mexico – From art festivals to local beer, Cloudcroft is inviting visitors all summer. The 51st Annual May Fair Juried Art Fair will be May 25 – 26 at Zenith Park. The Cloudcroft BeerFest will be June 22 – 23. July 13 – 14 at Zenith Park is the Christmas in July Jamboree.
🔶 New Mexico legislature taking applications for internships – Applications are now open for undergraduate students and those who have recently graduated from college. Interns help with day-to-day staff work and are paid $17 per hour.
