SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The Utah Jazz announced a series of initiatives to celebrate Black History Month throughout February.
These activations aim to honor Utah’s Black communities through education, empowerment, and engagement across the organization’s digital platforms, television and radio broadcasts, and arena events.
A major part of the Jazz’s campaign centers around a revamped Black Business Book, inspired by the historic “Green Book,” which will highlight over 30 local Black-owned establishments.

Print versions will be handed out at select February home games, while a digital book will be available year-round on the team app and website.
Additionally, the Jazz will host a Black Business Bazaar at the arena before certain matchups, allowing fans to shop goods from featured vendors.
On the court, the team will incorporate Black History Month tributes into games. There will also be a trip for West High School students to visit civil rights sites in Atlanta and attend a Jazz away game there.
Other activations involve showcasing menu items from local Black restaurants in premium spaces and producing a “Sights and Bites” video where players discuss Black businesses in Utah.

The Jazz G League affiliate, Salt Lake City Stars, will have their own campaign honoring Black entrepreneurs in their home city.
This initiative builds off the Jazz’s recent MLK Day celebration, where local students took part in social justice education programming.
Through celebrating Black History Month, the organization hopes to create more inclusion while uplifting the Black community and pioneers here in Utah.
