HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Entrepreneur JJ Niebuhr is known for bringing an Irish flair to pizza-making in Honolulu’s Chinatown.
He’s worked in some of the country’s top kitchens and was a founding partner and pizza guru at popular Irish pub JJ Dolan’s. He left to start his own venture — Black Shamrock Tavern.
Niebuhr and mixologist Dave Power joined HNN’s Sunrise Weekends to showcase Irish favorites and talk about St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Chinatown.
Niebuhr made eggrolls filled with corned beef and swiss cheese — “Chirish Eggrolls” — a fun twist on the Irish staple. He also showed how he makes his signature pizzas, with hand-tossed dough and the secret ingredient Guinness.
Power made Irish coffee and black and tans — a layered drink made with half a Guinness beer and half a pale ale.
