A woman is believed to have had her Gold’s Gym membership canceled after she confronted a man in the women’s changing room.
A woman behind her calls for a boycott of Gold’s Gym the membership has allegedly been cancelled for confronting a transgender woman in the women’s locker room.
Los Angeles-based singer Tish Hyman shared on Instagram that she and several others confronted the man found in the women’s locker room. Hyman says Gold’s Gym revoked her membership after the incident, a move she believes was punishment for speaking out.
Hyman claims this isn’t the first time a man has been seen in the women’s locker room and says gym staff have repeatedly failed to take action.
“Multiple women and I have written numerous reports about this man coming into our women’s locker room, harassing us, and the gym staff has done absolutely nothing.” Hyman: wrote on Instagram:
In the video, which Hyman shared online, he can be heard confronting an unidentified person wearing all black and dangling earrings. At one point, an angry man joined in, repeatedly asking the man who they were before Hyman entered.
“Now he knows how to be a man, doesn’t he? Now he knows how to be a man. Stay out of the women’s locker room. We don’t want that. He should cancel his gym membership for that.” Hyman: shouted.
He went on to address previous complaints allegedly made by women at the gym about a man being caught in the women’s locker room.
“We have already submitted reports. No, no, no, you can’t get rid of me for that. I’m a woman and I have every right not to want a man in the bathroom when I’m naked. There are naked girls there.” Hyman exclaimed.
Despite the commotion, the man returns to the women’s locker room, ignoring Hyman’s protests. Hyman says that while the man was eventually kicked out of the gym, his membership was also revoked, permanently.
“They removed him, but then turned around and suspended my membership as if they were punishing me for speaking out,” she wrote.
In his Instagram post, Hyman noted that the gym had has recently undergone renovations and urged the network to add “trans restrooms.” He also called on others to “take a stand” and join him in the “#BoycottGoldsGym” movement.
