Washington – The Bowie family searches for answers after a loved one dies while on vacation in the Bahamas. The circumstances surrounding his death are believed to be suspicious.
Dinari Mcalmont, a 23-year-old tourist, died 12 hours after landing in the Bahamas with her parents, family said. His lifeless body was reported to have washed up on Paradise Island near Nassau on Saturday morning.

The mother of a Bowie man found dead on holiday in the Bahamas says she wants to know for sure her son will be with her. Tonight, she spoke exclusively to FOX 5’s Shomari Stone about the devastating and confusing loss of her 23-year-old son.
What we know:
The Mcalmont family left their Bowie neighborhood on Friday and were due back on Monday. Instead, Dinari’s parents remain on the island and Dinari is declared dead.
In an emotional interview, Momelle Macalmont told eyewitness accounts that her 23-year-old son’s face was “traumatized” when she identified his remains and appeared to be dying.
“They shot my son in the sand,” she said, noting that she had a full head of hair. “I need justice for my baby. I need justice.”
Authorities are reportedly waiting for a postmortem examination before releasing more information to the public.
Backstory:
FOX 5 said the family was staying at the Atlantis Resort and Dinari left her parents during dinner to grab a coat and explore the resort. Family members say that hours later they came to the parents’ room to find out where Dinari was.
When location-sharing services were found to have gone dormant, Dinari’s parents reportedly searched the resort. When family members couldn’t find him, they said they filed a missing person slip.
The resort staff returned to Dinari’s parents’ room to tell her parents that she was dead.

Bahamas News Station Eyewitness News Authorities say the case is not being classified as a homicide and is not being classified as an autopsy.
The family says they are looking for a lawyer who specializes in international relations.
