Returning to the floor after a 15-day hiatus, the Louisiana (Xula) Men’s Basketball Team came out on the winning side in Thursday’s game against Texas-Dallas.
The Gold Rush snapped a two-game losing streak, He claims a 73-62 victory Second Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) competition of the season.
In addition to improving its conference record to 1-1 with the win, Khula jumps over .500 and its overall record to 4-3.
The victory coincided with his debut Former two-time HBCUAC Year of the Year Jamal Gibsonfinishing with 16 points on 57% from the field, eight rebounds and three steals.
In a rare turn of events, Gibson joined the gold rush after the first seven games of this season against New Orleans (Suno).
Two of the six games came against Xula, a former HBCUAC star, both of which Suno lost.
Xavier Forxor Elijah Tate led the team with a game-high 28 points on 10-of-16 shooting with five three-pointers.
Shortly after in the opening minutes of the game, the Gold Rush finished the first half on a 28-18 run to take a 39-30 lead into the second Stanza.
That included a 20-point outburst in which he hit three-pointers, including three of the half three-pointers.
As Dallas started the second half on a 7-0 run, Khula weathered the early storm to build a 15-point lead and never relinquished it en route to victory.
Xavier will return to action this Saturday, continuing their winning ways when they travel to face Southwestern University.
