Cheap Insurance researched some of the reasons for the major changes in gas prices and compiled a list of the cheapest gas stations in each state using the data Gas friend.
Gas prices fluctuate based on several factors, including the cost of the main ingredient, crude oil, and the current supply and demand for gasoline. If the price of oil goes up, a major refinery goes offline, or more drivers take to the road, for example, the cost will go up.
In the first half of 2022, a unique confluence of events led to an increase in gas prices. Increased demand caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and a slowdown in oil production all contributed. the highest level of national history An average of $4.93 per gallon in June 2022.
Seasons also affect gas prices. In the winter, demand decreases, but so does the cost, as gas stations switch to a different gasoline mixture it is optimal for low temperatures and has cheaper components.
