
Comedians Bowen Young and Matt Rogers addressed the backlash after voters were discouraged from donating to Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett’s Senate campaign.

Rogers responded to the backlash via her Instagram Story on Jan. 10 after criticism flared over her and Young’s remarks on their latest episode. Bodybuilders podcast where they opined on the Democratic Party’s strategy ahead of the 2028 presidential election.
“And don’t waste your money sending Jasmine Crockett,” said Rogers, and Young said to his friend, “I have to agree.”
After a quick reaction online, both Rodgers and Young, who recently completed his seven seasons Saturday Night Liveapologized for their remarks about Crockett.
“Hello, everyone. I’m listening to the answer and I’m taking everything to heart, I promise,” Rodgers wrote on Instagram. “Transparency and honesty are important to me, especially on a podcast. I am a very progressive person who cares deeply about winning this election, but my expression was not correct. I will be more thoughtful. I really promise.”
“I have great respect and admiration for Congressman Crockett, and I regret that my words suggested otherwise,” Rogers added. “I just want us to win, and I’ll be better at finding ways to help.”
Young appeared to express his regret by reposting Rodgers’ statement and adding that he “shouldn’t weigh in on it. Understanding the platform and will use it more responsibly.”
The episode presented later Rogers explained his position, telling listeners he doesn’t believe a Democratic lawmaker has a realistic path to winning a Senate seat in Republican-led Texas.
“Let me just qualify the Jasmine Crockett case. He’s not going to win a Senate seat in Texas, guys. If Beto O’Rourke can’t do it, Jasmine Crockett isn’t going to do it,” Rogers said. “It’s nothing against him, it’s just that he’s a politician because he’s already very well established and I think we’re going to need someone who’s less determined at the moment to step up.”
Crockett didn’t respond to the comedians because he remains focused on his campaign and continues his “Texas Tough Tour” across the state.
