BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A black bear roaming around the Metro East was spotted in Mascoutah Saturday.  The bear, named “Dewey” by local Facebook accounts, was spotted in a tree in Columbia; roamed around Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville;  Fairview Heights; O’Fallon, Illinois; and Mascoutah.   Scott Air Force Base posted on social media that the bear was seen near Cardinal Creek Gate.
