ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Just ahead of Black History Month, the president and CEO of the Alaska Black Caucus, Celeste Hodge Growden, joined Alaska’s News Source to explain the importance of recognizing and celebrating black history.
“What I hope, is that people will come together to learn about the history of black people and how we can grow together as a community,” Growden said.
The Alaska Black Caucus will be hosting two events during the month of February:
- The Bettye Davis African American Summit, Feb. 8, starts at 10:15 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School.
- Keeping our Eyes on the Prize: Black History Month, Feb. 2 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Zoom.
