FAIRFIELD, CT — Who doesn’t love a good cup of coffee and some delicious food with a friend or two?
That’s what the new Black Rock Coffee House & Kitchen hopes to provide, Executive Chef Lindsay Penev told Patch on Friday.
“When I came in, I revamped the entire menu from scratch,” Penev said. “So I made sure to edit it so that everything’s local, fresh, fun and creative.”
The eatery is not only open for breakfast and lunch, but is now also open for dinner until 8 p.m., and features coffees from Sacred Grounds Coffee Roasters, a small-batch roastery in Sherman. Alcohol is not served.
“At this time, I really want people to enjoy the food,” Penev said. Click here to view the menu.
On Friday, Penev and First Selectman Bill Gerber cut the ribbon for the coffee shop’s grand opening.
Located at 2480 Black Rock Turnpike, in the White Birch Plaza, Black Rock Coffee House & Kitchen is designed with an inviting atmosphere where customers can relax, connect, and feel at home.
Penev was a state social worker before having an epiphany and pivoting to her passion for cooking.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love helping people, but my therapy and my niche is cooking,” she said. “It’s like I never come to work, because I love it so much.”
Penev moved to a Fairfield/Bridgeport border neighborhood from Hartford, and added, “I’m so happy to be here and to serve the people of Fairfield.”
